Entropion & Ectropion

Inturning of the upper or lower lid margin is called entropion and the outturning of the same is termed as ectropion. Entropion takes place due to weakening muscles due to advancing age, wherein there’s an imbalance of between eyelid muscle clusters, as a result, the eyelid turns inward. Entropion can be a result of an infection, trauma, and scarring or inflammatory state such like eye lid shingles. They can also be congenital. Symptomatically, scratching of the eye by the eyelashes pointing inward which is also called Trichiasis, which causes irritation in the cornea or watery eyes. Surgery is the only cure for these conditions
